Single and Petless

I just returned from a fabulous trip to the Redneck Riviera and down-home Alabama.  Loved it.  Played the Inhabited - Uninhabited game all the way (you had to guess if someone actually lived in the buildings/trailers/barns/shanties driven by).

Had some minor issues  with Delta Airlines though.  This morning the plane out of Dothan was an hour late because it was "broken."  Always nice to have a "broken" plane.  So, I missed the connecting flight in Atlanta.  That's fine and I got my exercise running from terminal to terminal.  I really had no place to be, and since I'm single and petless in MKE the only thing I really missed was MySpace. I am a pathetic loser.  I know.

The only real problem I had was the term "Deplaning" that was used contiuously in the lexicon of the Delta flight attendants.  Now I was almost certain this, like the other terms I was introduced to this weekend -"Practicablility" and "Usabilityness" - was a made-up trade word, something to allow the not-as-good-as Northwest attendants feel special.  But low and behold, flippin' "deplaning" was in merriamwebster.com.  That is sheer crap. That's just like saying, "I'm unavailable to come to the phone." - Again not incorrect, but verbal rubbish.

First of all if you are unavailable TO COME TO something you're retarded.  You may be simply unavailable, or unable to get to the phone.

I do not "De-apartment," "De-work,"  "De-car," or "De-gym" when I leave the other nouns I visit/occupy.  I simply leave or exit.  Deplaning is completely asinine. Delta airlines - you are not Shakespeare - don't make up words!

If we are going to make up words - lets make them at least worthy of being made up.  I do like Practicablility.  That's good.  I may even use it.  Thanks US army for helping in the "destroyation" of an already messed up language.  And Delta Airlines - get jets.  No one flies planes anymore. Consolidate, conglomerate and live the American Way.

Wow - this shiraz is making me spunky.  Hope your MD weekends were as fabulous as mine! And that your issues are as mundane and superficial; so you can enjoy the little nuances that make this crazy world go round. -R

UPS Sucks

UPS SUCKSPosted Date: : May 23, 2006 6:13 PMI'm still happy about the great weekend, but UPS is pissin me off.  The only place to pick up is Oak Creek WI - usually a 15-20 minute drive but with construction 30-40!  My third delivery attempt occured Monday.  So, I drove to Oak Creek on my lunch hour today to pick up the package.  Well, the lady informed me that the driver was going to try to make another attempt.  How nice of them.

She called in to have it delivered between 3-7.  So, in addition to missing lunch, I had to leave work early and am still waiting (it is now 7:30).  I'll have to make up time at work, didn't get a chance to work out, have a hamburger sitting on a grill waiting for me in Bayview and just had my coworker call complaining!  Arghhh.  Why does one thing ruin the entire day?

Again I'm happy to be healthy with a great family and friends (and that's about all I have going for me right now), but I'm flippin hungry.  And I think I just lost a friend because I was honest.  That really sucks, but an entirely different blog.

Moral of the blog (MOTB) - DON'T WAIT FOR THE UPS DUDE - they aren't going to come.  Same goes for the phone person, cable dude and pizza delivery.  And BROWN IS NOT BETTER! ADVERTISING LIES! USPS can get into my apartment - I love them and they're more affordable.

Oh I'm crabby.  Crap.  Stupid UPS.

I fell down the stairs at work today

Posted Date: : May 3, 2006 5:03 PMThen my head hit the wall.  It hurt.[Edit] [Delete] [View Comments]Subject : When will the sun shine?Posted Date: : Apr 30, 2006 10:54 AMDid you know that running from rain doesn't stop you from getting wet?  And in my life it seems that my umbrella is always in the place I'm going, not where I am at the moment... take this however you choose.

For instance, this morning I went to church and my umbrella was in my car - good place for it.  This is was a recap of my week.  And, all in all, I'm soaked.

The messages from church today were great.

The first is for those Catholic haters out there - Love everyone, especially anyone who believes Christ died for our sins, stop worrying about how we pray and the intricacies between the various segments of Christian Beliefs, love your fellow person and learn to forgive and accept.

Second - Without Good Friday, Easter would never have occurred.  Suffering leads us to resurrection.  This message hit pretty close to home figuratively and literally.

Third - Bear Witness (hence my song choice - Holy Calamity (Bear Witness Il) ).

Then there is the one thing that will always affect me and how I live, I quite haven't been able to bring it to confession but think I may very soon. I realized today that each time I go to church and see the families with their beautiful children it's a small punishment. I attend mass by myself to punish myself.  I think I'm by myself to punish myself. The penance has gone on long enough and it's time for me to accept God's forgiveness and move on.

On a lighter note, signs are given to us daily and we shouldn't fight them...

After mass I went to the gym.  I realized I only packed one shoe.  Okay, I'll just not run and do the bike/stairstepper with the cheap-o target shoes.  Then I realized I didn't have my lock... Since it's Sunday I'll trust that people won't steal... Then I got out and thought I'd attempt a bike - it didn't work.  I moved to the tall stair walker machine and it was broke.  I jumped up on the top step and damn near fell on my face, it slid 4 ft in a  second.  I was not meant to work out today.  Hopefully when the rain stops everything else will brighten up too...
