I'm sure you're super duper busy right now. I was just wondering if you could just write me a paragraph that I could quote you on? It's for a paper about how important it is to maintain a certain image online in order to land a job or even be considered for it? Do you mind doing that for me? If you're too busy I understand...
Thanks,"But of course - I love this topic. And I love helping students create their on-line self brands.
My response - "Your on-line image is more important now than ever before. With the ease of internet searches and the interconnection of social media platforms, information about your life is available at a searcher's fingertips. Making sure that information is reflective of what you want others to know about you, is up to you. The "I don't care, I can do what I want attitude" only works for professional wrestlers. Creating a questionable or negative on-line image can be damaging to your self-brand for years to come. This also goes for lack of information. A strong personal brand is created, it doesn't simply appear. Showing you are social media savvy, have an on-line portfolio and can present yourself personally and professionally will show potential employers you can do the same for them. Keep in mind a few simple tips - 1. Never post anything you wouldn't say directly to the subject of your post's face. 2. Never post anything you wouldn't feel comfortable sharing with your grandmother 3. Always post things that show you are a real person, but one with tact. Happy on-line self-branding!"
