We were a little concerned about the upcoming flight to Minnesota, especially since Colton has fluid on his middle ear. Turns out this was the least of our worries. Dr. Chasky said this fluid would actually prevent his ears from popping so he wouldn't experience the uncomfortable ear-popping feeling.
Colton was also prescribed a steroid for his breathing. We're torn as to whether or not we want to add one more thing to his reg

C-man is waving and we actually know he's meaning to do it... Last night I told him to wave at Charlie before we headed up to bed. He took his right arm and moved it up and down (similarly to how he bam bam bams the high chair). Then I told him to say good night to his mom mom Mallet and he took his left hand and did the same. He also started scrunching up his little fingers on his right hand.
Typically we attribute most Colton doings to his impeccable baby-timing, but it was a general consensus that he was mimicking what he sees others do. He's been "waving" at day care for a while, but this was deliberate for sure. He's also in the Christmas mood as he sang along to Deck the Halls - fa la la Poor Baby C has been virally attacked - again... His 9-month "well-check" was at 12:20 p.m. Mom got lost driving down broad street and we were 10 minutes late...
Colton's updated measurements weight - 21 lbs. 13 oz. = 69th percentile Hieght - = 59th percentile Head Circumference - = 90th percentile He had a rash on his back and the doctor thought it was simply from laundry detergent (even though I said it started about 4 - 5 days prior). The examination room was very warm so I didn't think much of it when I took off his winter bear hat and he was a little sweaty. Nine months is the typical time when a baby begins to notice when mommy and daddy leave. Like clockwork Colton showed his displeasure for us leaving him places.
He began screaming when I dropped him off at daycare today. It was sad, but I did feel a little happy that he loves his mommy so much. He got over it quickly. Tonight Colton had a full out conversation with gramma and grandpa Jurek in full Gramma Lele style - she couldn't figure out how to get the microphone to work on her end of Skype... So, Colton went, "Blah baaa baa ba baaaa babb ah aahhh ba" while watching gramma and grandpa's lips move on the computer screen. It was quite enjoyable.
Colton came home from daycare with a little congestion in his chest. I gave him his evening bottle and it seemed to get worse. I decided to do what we had done in the past and sleep with him on my chest in the recliner to ease his breathing. Tonight it was extra horrible. When George got home from work around midnight we decided to take him to the ER. I said I would meet up with them as I wasn't sure how long it would take and I had to pump. I called about 40 minutes after they left to see where they were. They were seen and anticipated about another hour so I scurried (as much as one can scurry in the sleet at 2 a.m.). When I got there the worst was over. They had given baby a steroid shot to open his air passages, nebulized him (again, we had nebbed him earlier), and gave him a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia. Little man is so strong that he actually forced his head out of the restraints of the x-ray machine. Mommy was glad daddy had to bear witness to those two events, as I've already seen too many shots, pricks and pokes to the poor child. By the time I got there he was sitting on the hospital bed wooing the night nurse. The ER doctor (Carlton? or Carson?) was great. He was very nice and actually scrounged up some saline for the nebulizer as I voiced concern about giving him albuterol. (I think that's what caused his thrush.) We were home by 3 a.m. with a tuckered out little trooper. He stayed home the next day from daycare. I should start counting how mnay this is now as I'm guessing he stays home on average about once per week. : / |
